  Property Management System wins 'Best Online/Desktop Application'

  Hostelworld.com's property management system Backpack Online beat off stiff competition from Air France, Lastminute.com and Travelport amongst others, in London on Tuesday night at the annual Travolution Awards to pick up the award for 'Best Online/Desktop Application'.

  Commenting on the category, Travolution said "The winner showed a clear understanding of how to aggregate content and help partners in what is a difficult market to crack. The tools created are incredibly useful for accommodation owners".

  Backpack Online is a browser based property management system suitable for small to medium sized accommodation providers, in particular hostels, B&B's, guesthouses and small hotels. Hostelworld.com developed Backpack Online in 2006 to replace the popular windows based property management system, Backpack for Windows. The system was rewritten as a web application to ensure easy roll-out to the Hostelworld.com's global accommodation providers and to simplify support and future development requirements of those properties.

  Backpack Online is currently in use by more than 1,400 accommodation providers worldwide and is expected to continue to grow in double digits.
