Welcome to Castanea Old Town Hostel, one of the most central hostel in Stockholm.
Castanea is a small, personal hostel, located in the middle of the Old Town (Gamla Stan), one of the best preserved medieval city center in the world. We are a modern hostel in a charming building from 1747 with a beautiful horse chestnut tree at the square just outside. A fantastic location in the heart of Stockholm and at the same time our street is quiet and calm. It couldn't be better.
We would like you to experience a homely and friendly atmosphere and hope you can feel at home away from home.
Stay in dorm or a private room. We have single, twin, 4-bed and 6-bed private rooms and dorm with 4, 6 or 16 beds. All our rooms have big beautiful windows and comfortable beds with reading lights. The rooms are facing a small street, square or the tranquil backyard.
Bring your own bed-linen or rent from us. Sleeping bags are not allowed.
All rooms have shared shower and toilet. Separate showers so you can lock the door.
In our popular guest kitchen you can prepare your own meals. Why not start your day with making breakfast in our kitchen and buy some lovely fresh bread from the bakery just around the corner.
Relax in our common room with maps, books and homemade tips about Stockholm. Our guests come from Sweden and around the world. You will find backpackers, families, couples or just friends looking for a comfortable stay.

Yes - we are Eco friendly and are active with saving energy, waste recycling among other things.
When you stay at Castanea you are only 200 meters from the Royal Palace, Stockholm Cathedral, Nobel museum and of course in the middle of a lot of great cafés, restaurants, bars and shopping.
A short walk will take you to the City hall or to the local ferry to Djurgarden, Skansen and the Vasamuseum. Just minutes from the boats to Stockholm's famous Archipelago. Castanea is also close to Central Station, only one stop with the underground. What can we say - just in the middle of everything!

Отличный хоÑтел. Уютно, удобно и не дорого. Приветливый перÑонал, чиÑтые помещениÑ, Ð²ÐºÐ»ÑŽÑ‡Ð°Ñ Ð´ÑƒÑˆ Ñ Ñ‚ÑƒÐ°Ð»ÐµÑ‚Ð¾Ð¼. РаÑполагаетÑÑ Ð² Ñамом центре, что оÑтавлÑет еще больше положительных впечатлений от поездки. ПриÑÑ‚Ð½Ð°Ñ Ð¸ дружеÑÑ‚Ð²ÐµÐ½Ð½Ð°Ñ Ð°Ñ‚Ð¼Ð¾Ñфера. ЕÑÑ‚ÑŒ кухнÑ, можно взÑÑ‚ÑŒ карту города поÑле заÑелениÑ.
Из минуÑов можно выделить только то, что комплект Ð±ÐµÐ»ÑŒÑ Ð½Ðµ включен в ÑтоимоÑÑ‚ÑŒ и в общей Ñпальне без беруш может быть не очень комфортно, но Ñто вÑе мелочи. ОÑтальное отлично! Ð’ Ñледующий раз только Ñюда.

ДоÑтоинÑтва Ñтого хоÑтела отнюдь не иÑчерпываютÑÑ Ð¸Ð´ÐµÐ°Ð»ÑŒÐ½Ñ‹Ð¼ раÑположением - в Ñамом центре Ñтарого города. За дейÑтвительно низкую цену предлагаетÑÑ Ð²Ñ‹Ñокий уровень качеÑтва. Помимо общих комнат там еÑÑ‚ÑŒ комнаты на 2-3 человека, в одной из которых мы жили - Ñто по Ñути уÑÐ»Ð¾Ð²Ð¸Ñ Ð½Ðµ хоÑтела, а отелÑ, за цену хоÑтела. Ðа кухне еÑÑ‚ÑŒ вÑе необходимое, в том чиÑле базовые продукты, везде очень чиÑто и убираютÑÑ Ñ€ÐµÐ³ÑƒÐ»Ñрно. ПерÑонал более чем дружелюбный! Можно поÑтирать и даже погладить вещи и тд. Супер!

What makes Castanea special is our amazing location in the charming atmosphere of the Old Town. It\'s probably the most popular part of Stockholm. From here it is close to everything. We are in the middle of Old Town and most of the city sights within walking distance. Just minutes from the ferries to Djurgården and the Archipelago.
Our personal recommendation is to stroll in the Old Town and experience the historic atmosphere. Another favorite is Fotografiska also walkable from Castanea, enjoy fantastic exhibitions as well as good food. It is also an excellent photo spot of Stockholm form there. If you are curious of Swedish food visit an indoor food market perfect for this is Östermalmshallen or Hötorgshallen.
If you are a little more adventurous try the very Swedish Ice-hole and cold bathing with sauna in the winter. In the summer take the boat far out in the archipelago for a whole day.
We find that we get a relaxed mix of people staying here who like meeting other guests, from friends, couples and families to backpackers - but we are not a party hostel. We like to make people feel at home and usually you can find somebody cooking in the kitchen chatting to other guests."
