Comfortable and relaxed, Ubuntu overlooks the world-class surf spots of J-Bay, offering free WIFI ,and is a 1 minute walk to the shell-rich beach. We have stunning views of the ocean and the surf, and all local amenities are within a 5 minute walk.
The house is spacious, with two decks overlooking the sea, two lounges, pool table and a large garden to lounge in. Each room is uniquely decorated, and the dorm room has its own bathroom. There are three other tastefully designed bathrooms available. Travellers have described our place as more of a big home than a hostel and we pride ourselves on that our guests arrive as visitors, and leave as friends!
Looking after our beautiful environment is vital and Ubuntu Backpackers also offers its own Community Outreach program working with the underprivileged children of the area. We have recently begun facilitating volunteers who wish to do a little more than just travel, and want to help make a difference on their journey.

Loved Ubuntu, so much that I came back for two more nights. A cosey hostel, and the perfect location for surfing in J Bay. Enjoyed hanging out with everyone there. Jonny, Cherkanah, Eva and Lovis kept the place running really well, and I enjoyed hanging out with Greg! Cheers Ubuntu. 🍻🏄♂️🇿🇦
