El Zopilote

The El Zopilote Hostel and Permaculture Farm is a backpackers hostel and a permaculture farm at the same time. We offer various types of hospitality like private rooms, dormitories, camping areas and hammocks. We organize many activities like free yoga , permaculture courses, cacao ceremonies, volcanoes tours, massages , workshops and lots of other activities. We have a vegetarian and vegan farm to table restaurant open all day and Tue and Sat we have Pizza night party, with fire shows, dancing, natural cocktails and fun.

We are located in Ometepe Island (Nicaragua), in the area of Santa Cruz / Madronal, in the jungle slopes of the Maderas volcano, 2 km before Balgue. Our hostel is near to some of the best and finest attractions of the area such as Volcano Maderas, Volcano Concepcion and Playa Santa Cruz, amongst other interesting spots of our location. The farm is 300m from the main road and that keep the place an oasis of peace...

We have various types of hospitality on offer. Private rooms, dormitories, camping areas and hammocks are situated in various locations on the farm. Everything has been built or planned to be immersed in the natural environment and to respect it greatly. Our great variety of choices means that our hospitality is accessible to all kinds of people and budgets.
Beside Mariposa Bungalow which is a little more luxurious with a private bathroom (compost toilet), all of the rooms are basic but cozy with shared compost toilets and shared showers. The area of the farm is fairly big so some dorms are 5-10 minutes walking from the reception area; you can see which dorm are when you chose the room: it say dorm a little far from reception.

The hostel is located in a slope and there is always some breeze that keeps the rooms naturally fresh and ventilated so we don't need to waist energy in using fans and definitely no air conditioner.

Bring a flash light for the night, there are lights in all the huts but the footpaths that connect them have few lights to keep the habitat more natural.
