New hostel, FOCUS KURAMAE was born in Kuramae in Oct, 2018.
Kuramae is called “Tokyo’s Brooklyn” and still has an atmosphere of old downtown.
This hidden area next to Asakusa, is known for its handicraft and coffee culture.
There are unique leatherworking and handicraft shops that are run by talented artisans,
and also trendy coffee stands and cafes. Perfect place to stay if you would like to travel like a local.
In this district, where good old handcrafter’s legacy still thrives,
FOCUS KURAMAE once used to be a factory for parts of cameras.
We wanted to tell the story and carry the history.
That’s why our name is “FOCUS” and our concept is photography.
Our cozy common lounge is open for 24 hrs and equipped with wifi and outlets.
Shared kitchens with basic condiments and seasonings, cafe on the 1st floor to get social with other guests, there is everything you need.
Also, equipped with sauna by reservation only.
Our staffs are in love with this neighborhood, so feel free to ask our staffs for recommendations around Asakusa and Kuramae.

Nicest staff ! We stayed in the female dorm and it was very beautiful clean and calm! The Staff was here to help us or even just have a small conversation, shuto, jun, Elodie and everyone else was so nice to us! I recommend strongly 💜

staff were awesome! Spoke great english but alot of negatives. Starters the beds.. awfully thin mattress, & around the mattress on the bed frame was long, black hair. Not properly cleaned. bottom bunks are like coffins in the wall that collect the humid heat from the day and store it there. Barely ventilated, at times the AC wouldn't work in 30° heat. Leaving sleepless sweaty and uncomfy nights. Things cutting out was normal. The hot water would also cut midway thru a shower & the wifi too.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very comfy beds, and great location in quiet area right by a station.
