It has been announced that according to new italian law, the venetian city council will be introducing an accomodation tax for all hotel reservations with effect of 23 august 2011 of 1 euro per person, per night, per hotel star category. Therefore all clients will have to pay the 'city bed tax' of 3.5 euro per person per day for a 3 star hotel directly to the hotel. We are sorry for any inconvenience but this new 'city bed tax' is unfortunately not included in the accommodation fee.

We chose to stay here over an air BnB we stayed at our first time around because it was a little cheaper. It was expensive to get to from the airport and back, took a boat that cost around and then walked about 7 minutes 1 hour in all from the airport) so we didn’t save any money in the end: The hotel was nice, clean, nice staff, great breakfast! But it’s a hotel so you can’t cook. Also the rooms are small and the bed was so hard it hurt to sleep on it.

The staff really makes the Hotel Scandinavia. I arrived and they immediately assisted me with general tourist knowledge such as self-guided walking tours and helping me locate venues I wished to see. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the train station with very good access to San Marco. It was a bit pricy for what it was, but I did book it last minute, so I can't really complain there.
